(Q) Do you offer riding lessons?
(A) Yes we do! That is our main program. We offer riding lessons with our lesson horses. Our sister business, Northern Pines Equine offers lessons for owners with their own horses! Check out their page for more information on them.
(Q) How often can we get in/ schedule lessons?
(A) We will get you in as often as we can, we try to share the joy of lessons with all of our clients instead of focusing on just a few main students.
(Q) Do you guys offer weekly lessons for kids who want to be on a schedule?
(A) We do not offer weekly lessons at this time in order to share the joy of lessons with everyone.
(Q)Do you offer packages on lessons if we buy more then one?
(A) We do not offer packages for multiple lessons at this time.
(Q)How much do lessons cost?
(A) Lessons start at $50 per rider depending on duration and time of week. (check our specific page for Riding Lessons for all the prices)
(Q) Do you offer trailrides?
(A) We currently do not offer trailrides.
(Q) Do you have a waitlist? How long do I have to wait on the waitlist for lessons?
(A) Our waitlist guarantees that we contact you when we are beginning to schedule more lessons and have an opening. It ranges in the amount of time that you can be on the waitlist from approximately 1-3 months.
(Q) When can we "run" on the horses in our lessons?
(A) Once we evaluate the student's riding skills, we work you up to "loping" as we see safely.
(Q) How old does my kid have to be to take lessons?
(A) We require riders to be at least age 5.
(Q) How often do you recommend a rider take lessons?
(A) We recommend lessons as often as you want! As long as the lesson student is learning and growing with each lesson, the more the merrier!
(Q) Where are you located?
(A) We are located just right outside of Sawyer, North Dakota.
(Q) Do you offer group lessons? Can both of my children ride at the same time?
(A) We do offer up to 3 riders at a time for a family group. We can arrange a lesson of 2 riders of different families; however, we only offer this to riders we feel are similar in skill and are ready for that scenario.
(Q) Do you offer adult lessons?
(A) Yes, we do! We love having adults out for lessons. We can accommodate beginner to advanced riders for adult and kid lessons.
(Q) Do you offer horse training?
(A) Our sister business, Northern Pines Equine does! They do not start horses, take in horses with bucking or bolting issues, or take horses that have less than 90 rides on them. Check their page out for more information!
(Q) Do you have horses for sale or sell horses?
(A) None of our lesson horses are for sale. If you have any questions about purchasing a horse or any help needing a horse sold, please go to Northern Pines Equine page for their help!
(Q) Do you offer kids camps?
(A) Yes we do! We offer a shorter camp called With I Had a Horse Camp and a day camp called My Own Horse Camp. Kids love these and have so much fun! We even offer workshops for adults too! (Check out our page for Educational Camps)
(Q) Do you offer birthday parties?
(A) We do! We offer Birthday Surprise Lessons with options for just one rider or multiple riders, check out our specific page for Birthday Surprises.
(Q) Do you offer boarding or a place to keep a horse for other people?
(A) We do not offer boarding at this time. Any boarding questions can be directed to Northern Pines Equine.
(Q) Do you sell gift certificates or gift cards?
(A) We do offer gift certificates! If you'd like to purchase a gift certificate please go to our online store!
(Q) Can we bring our own horse for my riding lessons to your place?
(A) At Northern Pines Stables, we offer lessons with only our lesson horses. Our business partner, Northern Pines Equine, offers riding lessons for owners with their own horses. However, they absolutely allow that! They do schedule lessons that involve your own horse if you wish! They do require vaccination records and up to date deworming before the horse is brought onto our property.
(Q) Where are you located?
(A) We are located right outside of Sawyer, ND. Approximately 15 minutes away from Minot, ND.
(Q) What do students need to wear or bring for their lessons?
(A) Students are required to wear jeans/pants and a boot with a heel. We do make exceptions in the winter for layers such as overalls or snow pants to bundle up. We do not allow riders to ride in shorts. We do offer boots and helmets free to riding students for their lesson.
(Q) Do we get to pick a specific lesson horse for our lessons?
(A) Riders can not pick their lesson horse because the horses have days off during the week and the instructors try to align the rider's skills and horse's skills with the lesson plans as well. However, we love to hear your feedback about which lesson horses you love!
(Q) Do you offer English style riding lessons?
(A) We do offer beginner style lessons for English riding but our main focus is Western riding.
